Why do seniors, ladies and Juniors need clubs designed especially for them? Why are the same clubs I see in stores not OK for them?

Seniors, Ladies and Juniors are not as strong athletically as younger and middle aged adults are. Think of weight lifting, or running as other examples of how different they are. When we are young we can lift much more weight than when we can when we get old. We can run much faster than when we get old. Grown men on average can lift a lot more weight than most average ladies and can run faster too. The same can be said for Juniors. Common sense tells us that they need different gear for many things.

Golf clubs are no different. Many do not realize that part of why a golf ball goes as high as it does is because of aerodynamic lift caused by the dimple pattern on a golf ball moving through the air. As shown below these aerodynamic forces cause lift and the ball goes higher.

Without these lift forces the ball does not stay in the air as long and does not carry as far so you do not get as much distance as someone who creates these lift forces. It takes a swing speed of about 100 mph to create enough spin on a driver to exert the aerodynamic lift forces that keep the ball airborne longer. Depending on swing speed a golfer will need sufficient loft on the driver to launch a tee shot at 16° – 20° approximately to get maximum carry for their swing speed.

For this same reason, lack of swing speed, a 13° to 15° #3 fairway is more than likely not a good club in the bag for fairway shots. They simply cannot get the ball in the air enough off the fairway to get maximum distance. Most seniors, ladies and juniors need at least a #5 fairway or even a #7 fairway to launch high enough to get maximum distance off the fairway.

Iron clubs are 3° to 4° different to allow average golfers to get 10 to 12 yards distance gap between irons. Because of swing speed that simply isn’t enough gap for seniors, ladies and juniors in most cases. They need about 6° to have significant distance differences between irons.

Shafts have to be different also. Shafts designed for the capabilities they have and to help them get the ball in the air for more distance. Shafts that feel good to them and make the game easier and more fun for them to play.

Designed with a thinner face expressly for golfers with a swing speed of 80mph or lower to increase ball velocity. Golfers with a swing speed of 90mph or higher are NOT to use this driver.

The 730CL driver is designed with a High Launch loft of 16° to match correctly with swing speeds lower than 80mph to generate the proper launch angle for maximizing distance.

The 730CL Long and High Fairway woods are 20° and 26° loft respectively, and are perfect lofts for a golfer with a sub-80mph swing speed to use to get the ball up easily off the fairway and generate proper distance in between the two woods.

Both the Driver and Fairways are designed to accept the matching Wishon 730CL Wood shafts.

A perfect match and complement to the 730CL set for the <80mph swing speed player are the PW (48°) and DW (54°).

DW is a Dual Wedge, designed with the right balance of bounce sole angle for use in the sand or in tall grass around the greens.

730CL wedges are designed with a taller heel profile and more level topline slope angle, to better “frame” the ball on all shots. From the sand, the higher heel profile of the DW does help push more sand out behind the ball to assist the slower swinger in getting the ball out of the sand more consistently.

Both PW and DW are designed to accept the matching Wishon 730CL wedge shafts.
