Tom Wishon wrote “The Search for the Perfect Golf Club” in which he revealed 12 Myths that can wreck your golf game. Tom later turned those 12 Myths into a small booklet. You can download a PowerPoint file below and read about the 12 Myths.

The 12 Myths

  3. You Can’t Go Wrong with Well Known Brand Name Clubs
  4. The New Drivers have a Larger Sweet Spot
  5. When I Buy a Club with an S-flex Shaft, I know I’m getting a Stiff Flex
  6. The Faster you Swing, the Stiffer you Shaft Should Be
  7. The Longer the Length of the Driver, the Farther You’ll hit the Ball
  8. My Clubs are Just Like the Ones the Pros Use
  9. Women’s Clubs are Designed for Women Golfers
  10. I am not a Good Enough Golfer for Custom Fit Clubs to Matter

If you have a set of clubs that are supposed to be for you but you can’t hit them any better than what you had before, I can help. I know Myth from Fact and I know how to fit golf clubs as good as anybody maybe. I’ve been around long enough that I’ve learned a few things that can help you.

I started playing golf as a teen back in the 1960s and for as long as I can remember golf club companies have advertised every year since I started playing that their new clubs this year are longer and straighter than last year’s clubs. Well after 50 years of adding yardage every year I guess I should be hitting my tee shots about 750 yards on average. Well, to be honest, I’m not. Maybe there is a grain of truth in the ads, but mostly they are like political promises… mostly hot air.

So why can I help? You might be asking.

  • That 50 years of learning is one reason
  • Completed PGA Business School in 1968
  • Studied under some of the best in the business
    • Fred Haskins & his assistant Howard Pitts
    • Bob Toski
    • Charlie Harper
    • Hugh Royer Jr.
  • I’ve set or tied several course records (in 3 states GA, AL, FL)
  • I studied Tom Wishon for the past 20 years

    • Golfsmith
    • Golfworks

Over the years I’ve developed a series of fitting specifics characteristics that I look for in a golfer and based on a series of questions I am able to use my experience in fitting golfers in person to evaluate the answers to the questions and fit a golfer very accurately. I’ve done this for many golfers over the years when they were unable to come to me for a live fitting. The results have been very successful and I’m confident I can help you too.

If you want to know what you should be using take the Fitting Test and send it in and see.
