One question I’m often asked is “Why do I need custom fit clubs?”

After being a golf pro since 1967 and doing custom fitting almost exclusively since 2002 I have learned that not only can your swing affect your scores, but your clubs can affect your swing. Weight and length are very important and getting the weight and length balance for you, and getting both the total weight & swing weight balanced for you is critical too. Loosely saying when you get the length, total weight and swing weight balanced it can alter the way you swing enough to make a big difference.

Custom fitting for golf clubs is highly recommended for golfers of all skill levels. Golf clubs that are not properly fitted can negatively affect a golfer’s swing, accuracy, and overall performance on the course. When clubs are custom fitted, they are tailored to a golfer’s individual physical characteristics, such as height, arm length, and swing speed. This ensures that the club’s length, weight, flex, and grip size are all optimized for the golfer’s unique swing.

One of the biggest advantages of custom fitting is improved accuracy. When a club is properly fitted, it allows the golfer to hit shots more consistently and with greater precision. This is because the club’s length and weight distribution will be optimized for the golfer’s swing, allowing for a more natural and fluid motion.

Custom fitting can also help prevent injury. Using clubs that are not properly fitted can put unnecessary strain on a golfer’s body, leading to discomfort or even injury over time. Custom fitting ensures that the clubs are matched to the golfer’s physical characteristics, reducing the risk of injury.

This is an important reason for getting both the right length for your body but also the right weight and balance for your physical ability.

Another benefit of custom fitting is increased distance. When a club is properly fitted to a golfer’s swing, it allows for maximum energy transfer from the clubhead to the ball. This can result in greater ball speed and increased distance off the tee or fairway.

In conclusion, custom fitting for golf clubs is highly recommended for golfers who want to improve their accuracy, distance, and overall performance on the course while reducing their risk of injury.

After over 20 years fitting golfers of all kinds there is no doubt that having the right fit is important to play your best game.

I have an extensive data base of shaft flex profiles that includes nearly every manufacturers shaft flex profiles. Through my analysis of your swing using my fitting form and your videos, plus critical input from you I can determine what your best shaft is among thousands of shafts. I am not limited to a hand full of brands most companies put in their fitting bags. Nor am I limited to any predetermined length or swing weight (or MOI) to fit you. Even though I use Wishon Golf shafts as my go to shafts, if they are not the right fit for you I search data base for a better fit. I can custom order nearly any shaft necessary to fit you properly.

The major manufacturers do a pretty good job of fitting, but very few of their golf pros have the extensive background I have in club design, shaft technology, swing mechanics and how golf cubs are made can change a golf swing
