I attended the PGA School in November of 1968 and was benefited by being one of the two golfers to demonstrate the golf swing for Bob Toski who was the instructor for teaching us the golf swing for the entire school. Every day I got instructed by and guided by Mr. Toski. Not only did I learn a great deal, my game dramatically improved in addition to be taught how to teach by one of the best teachers in the world.

Before that I worked for Charlie Harper the head pro at the Columbus Country Club and got a chance to spend some time with Fred Haskins and his assistant Howard Pitts. Mr. Haskins had retired as a pro and was the Greens Superintendent then and Howard was the Caddie Master. Howard and I played 9 hole many rounds before I had to open the golf shop at 9am. We usually made a stop at the maintenance building to spend a little time with Mr. Haskins. The College Golfer of the Year receives the Haskins Trophy each year. The figure on top of the Haskins Trophy is modeled after Hugh Royer Jr. his most famous student. Hugh won the Western Open before retiring from the PGA tour to take the Head Pro job at Bull Creek Golf Course in Columbus. I served in the Air Force and got out of the service about the same time and Hugh hired me the first week I was home to be his assistant Pro.

I have been around and influenced by some pretty great teaching pros over the years. I bring the same fundamentals I learned from them to my students. My professional background is Assistant Pro at The Columbus Country Club, Columbus GA, Head Professional at Sand Golf Club at Fort Benning GA, Assistant Pro at Bull Creek Golf Course, Columbus GA, and Head Pro at Four Lakes Golf Club, Columbus GA.

I played golf at Baker High School in Columbus GA, Columbus College in Columbus GA as Team Captain and at one time held or tied 6 course records in 3 states. Two Jr. course records and 4 course records.

My online lessons will consist of viewing your videos, you filling in my clubfitting form and an exchange of emails about your swing. From the information you provide I might suggest drills, exercises, practice or other things. I can usually find a YouTube video that illustrates the technique or techniques I suggest and I will send links to the pertinent videos I find. I believe in K.I.S.S. or Keep it simple stupid and work on one correction or adjustment at a time. I’ve been able to help a number of people and I believe I can help you. It only requires you have one teacher at a time because we all go about things differently and you can follow more than one instructor at a time without getting confused.
