The one thing we all need to know is… How far should I hit the ball with each club with my swing speed? I found the chart below to be very useful for most golfers. Use your swing speed with a driver to locate where you belong. This is based on a calculation of 2.4 yards per mph to get distance with a driver and changes based on average loft for each club in the bag. Although lofts vary and club length varies from company to company and set to set this is a pretty good rough guide to how far you should hit each club in the bag.

As a rule of thumb most golfers will have a 15 mph (+5 or -5 mph) difference between their driver and a 5 iron or 6 iron club speed.

Note to Seniors and Ladies: If your swing speed is below 80 mph with your driver you might consider a short set of clubs because the distance gap between clubs gets very close and you may not need all the clubs any longer. Especially with the lower lofted clubs. If you do not see a set that matches your needs please write me at r.nix@mcnixgolf.com and I will create a custom set to match your needs.
