This week I started working on a set of Wishon 565MC Forged Irons. A great set of irons for any scratch to mid handicap golfers. If you shoot 80 or less this is a great set of irons for you, and you will love them.

The 565MC is a Forged Carbon Steel CNC Machined Deep Back Cavity, for the highest MOI in a true forged iron design…
565 Features include:

  • Wishon Golf’s 2nd generation 560 Series forged iron adds a more solid on-center feel to the best off center forgiveness in a forged carbon steel iron
  • New center cavity half-moon weighting increases on-center impact feel while offering a very slight increase in shot trajectory
  • Low-offset design also features a slightly thinner top line than the original 560MC
  • Completely CNC machined back cavity ensures precise CG position for each head number with a beautiful cosmetic appearance
  • Fully radiused tour grind type sole design – this is a model for scratch to middle handicap players
  • Double nickel chrome pearl plated finish with glass bead blast highlights – CNC machined score lines within 2010 USGA rule guidelines

After collecting the fitting information from my customer and watching several videos of his swing in both face on and down the line views the shaft match for him was the Wishon S2S White S flex. The S2S White is Wishon Golf’s most popular shaft for golfers with average swing characteristics, and is ideal for golfers with smooth to average tempo and average strength. Other details obtained on the fitting form indicated the correct length, weight, MOI and grip size for his irons.

Using both deflection and frequency to measure the flex on his shafts. First measurements are to obtain the flex at the 15 inch, then 25 inch, then 35 inch point in the raw shafts. By using a formula the relative overall flex for each shaft can be determined to allow assigning each shaft to the right head for best performance and consistency. This is not done in mass produced clubs because it takes a lot of time to do. It’s an extra step similar to things a custom race car might do to “blueprint” a car engine for best performance. Little things make a big difference.

Once the assignments are made the shafts will be tested for spine position and FLO (Flat Line Oscillation) will be found for each shaft and aligned with each clubface to make the impacts more consistent swing after swing. This will give my golfer more center face hits and assure that each club returns to the same place swing after swing.

All of the heads will be weighed and weights adjusted if needed to obtain a very tight MOI balance throughout the set. This will make each clubs swing the same as all other clubs in the set so the golfer feels like he’s swinging the same club regardless of the club in his hands.

Grips measured to mid size for this customer and I will be installing Pure Mid Size grips. PURE Grips follow a strict 5-point quality assurance plan to ensure only the best quality grips are produced. Grips are made with a proprietary EPDM rubber compound formulated to provide more control and responsiveness with each stroke. Each grip undergoes a quality inspection by a production team member at each phase of their manufacturing process. That’s why, PURE Grips can offer a 12-month guarantee on every grip. I’ve been installing Pure grips for over a decade and recommending them to customers to try with the option of bringing them back to swap their favorite grips and not one set has come back to me. Pure Grips are a proven winner.

The 565MC irons will be a great match for any mid to low handicap golfer who wants to improve their game with a custom fit set of irons.
